MIDWAY, TEXAS – The Lake Belton Lady Broncos fought hard in their first-round playoff matchup against Red Oak on February 11 at Midway High School. Despite their determination, they fell 66-42, bringing their season to a close.
The Lady Broncos started strong, keeping pace with Red Oak in the first quarter, trailing 19-12. However, Red Oak’s defensive pressure and consistent scoring widened the gap as the game progressed. Lake Belton battled through each possession, but the deficit proved too much to overcome.
Leading the charge for the Lady Broncos was Ariella Polley, who contributed 11 points, including a three-pointer. Natalie Maldonado followed with 9 points, while Layla King added 8. The team showed resilience on both ends of the court, with players like Alexa King and Amara Sanchez making key defensive plays.
Though the season ends here, the Lady Broncos have plenty to be proud of. They finished with an overall record of 14-21 and went 6-4 in district play. The team showed growth, grit, and heart throughout the year, setting the stage for an exciting future.
We’re proud of our fight and how much we’ve grown this season. We are thankful for the leadership from our seniors and we cannot wait to see what the future holds.
