On February 21st and Saturday, February 22nd, the Lake Belton Swim Team competed in the UIL-5A State Championship Meet. There were many incredible moments for the Broncos. The Broncos started off strong with bringing 5 qualifiers: Elizabeth Simeroth (Jr.), Gwen Clark (Fr.), Christine Kim (Jr.), Brooke Phillips (Sr.), and David Stewart (Jr.). This is the most swimmers Lake Belton has taken to state with its first girls relay competing at state. Along with this milestone reached, Bronco swim also had its first top 8 finishes at state. Christine Kim placed 4th overall in the 50 Fr and 6th overall in the 100 Fr. Christine also broke her own school record at prelims in the 50 with a time of 23.57. Girls 400 Fr relay (Simeroth, Clark, Kim, and Phillips) finished 19th overall. David Stewart finished 23rd in the 200 Fr and 20th in the 100 Fr. Girls team finished 22nd out of 50 point scoring teams that competed at state this past weekend. A great end to the Bronco swim season. We look forward to building onto the success of the program in the years to come. Go Broncos!
