The Lake Belton girls powerlifting team showcased their strength and determination at the THSWPA 5A Large Region II Championships this past Saturday, earning an impressive third-place finish. The Broncos demonstrated their depth and skill with 10 lifters medaling in their respective weight classes.
Leading the charge were Jaya Lisenbe and Scarlytt Cotham, who both secured second-place finishes in their weight classes. Catalina Esquivel and Macie Solis followed closely behind, earning third-place medals. Emma Scholz, Shekayla Munoz, and Baylie Anderson delivered strong performances, each finishing in fourth place. Rounding out the scoring for Lake Belton, Aleyna Castor, Moriah Rydberg, and Isalei Simpson claimed fifth-place finishes.
Beyond the medalists, several athletes delivered personal bests at the most crucial meet of the year. Kaitlyn Maus (6th place), Sarah Rogers (9th place), Harper Holt (7th place), Emyle Love (7th place), Aralina Acosta (6th place), Avery Park (7th place), Maia Keen (6th place), and Lorelai Scallorn (7th place) all lifted to new heights, demonstrating their hard work and commitment throughout the season.
Additionally, Taylor Love, Tatum Vaughn, and Abby Rydberg showcased resilience and determination, representing Lake Belton with true grit despite not hitting personal bests on the day.
The Broncos' journey isn’t over yet, as Aleyna Castor, Scarlytt Cotham, and Jaya Lisenbe have punched their tickets to the THSWPA State Powerlifting Meet in Edinburg on Saturday, March 15th. These three lifters will carry the momentum from regionals as they prepare to compete at the highest level.
