The Lady Bronco Golf Silver and Red Teams participated in the Belton ISD Tournament at Stonetree Golf Course in Killeen on Wednesday, March 19. Stonetree is the sight of next week's District 16-5A tournament, so this was an important round to see and play the course one more time before it then.
Playing for the Silver Team were Sophomores Lyliana Gonzalez, Reese Sexton, and Lille Mikes and Junior Suellen Tillis. Those playing for the Red Team were Senior Lexie Holler, Junior Nena Tamarez, and Freshmen Kaylee Carubelli and Aurora Nance.
Gonzalez, who has been consistent all year, led the way for the Silver Team. She shot a 98. She had one birdie and four pars.
Tillis's 113 was a new personal best, which was four shots better than her previous best round at Sammons in 2024. She had five bogeys.
Continuing to show improvement, Mikes shot 119. That round included one par and two bogeys.
Sexton withdrew.
Members of the Red Team felt like they were hitting the ball well, but were having a difficult time scoring. Holler led the Red Team with a 120. She had a personal record of three pars on her round and one bogey.
Carubelli and Nance, Freshmen, played in their first tournament with a UIL 9 stroke limit. Carubelli shot 128 and had two bogeys to go along with Nance's 131. She also had two bogeys.
Tamarez, a Junior, shot 136. She had a par and a bogey on her round.
The Red Team shot a total 515 and finished 9th in Division I (5A/6A) of the tournament. The Silver Team did not turn in a team score.
Both teams will finish off their regular season next week at District. They will play at Stonetree on Tuesday and Wednesday.
