The Lady Bronco Silver Golf Team has advanced to the Regional Tournament for the 5th straight year!
Lady Bronco Golf played in the District 16-5A tournament at Stonetree Golf Club on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 25 and 26. It was the best weather the ladies have played in for district in years, with warm weather and light wind.
Carly Marshall again lead the way for the Silver Team. She shot a fantastic five under par, 67! That 67 included four birdies and an eagle. It was her lowest round for Lady Bronco Golf and the lowest round ever for a Lake Belton Lady Bronco Golfer. Her previous low round was a -3, 69 at Tanglewood Resort in 2024,
Lyliana Gonzalez had the next lowest score for the Silver Team posting a personal best 90. She recorded four pars on the day. Her previous best round was a 91. She shot that at Sammons in 2024.
The lone senior on the Silver Team, Kat Moore, shot 104 for her first round, which included one par.
Rounding out scoring for the Silver Team on the first day were sophomores Lillie Mikes and Reese Sexton. Mikes shot her personal best, a 113, which was one stroke better than the her previous low round at Sammons in 2024. Sexton, playing in her first district tournament, shot 120.
At the end of day, Silver Team was seven strokes behind Belton High School, shooting a team score of 374.
Round two on Tuesday was not quite as successful for the Silver Team, with many of the golfers feeling the fatigue of back to back rounds of 18 holes, especially on the back nine.
Marshall again led the way, shooting a very good +1, 73. She had four birdies. Her two day total of 140 set a new Lady Bronco Golf record and was her personal best two day total for Lady Bronco Golf. She previously shot 143 at Stonetree in 2024. She finished first overall, by 28 strokes and was named First Team All District.
Gonzalez had a 92. She had four pars and a birdie in her second round. Gonzalez broke her previous personal best record by 21 strokes! She previously had a two day total of 203 from Stonetree in 2024. She finished in 3rd place individually and was also named First Team All-District.
Sexton and Moore both turned in 112 on day two. Sexton's 112 was eight strokes better than the previous day, the only Silver Team golfer to improve. She had one par. Moore also had one par. Sexton shot 232 over the two day period and Moore had a 216. Moore's 216 was good enough for 11th place and earned her Honorable Mention All-District Honors.
Rounding out the day two scoring was Mikes with a 117. Her two day total of 230 was a new record for her. She beat her previous record at Stonetree in 2024 by a whopping 54 strokes! She finished 17th overall and earned an Honorable Mention All-District Honor.
The Silver Team finished in second place behind Belton by 33 strokes. They beat third place Ellison by 57 strokes. Their two day total of 763 was five strokes better than the two day total the District Champion team in 2024 had.
They will move onto the Regional Tournament, April 14 and 15, at Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro, Texas. Lake Belton is new to Region II and looks forward to great competition!
