The Lake Belton Varsity Silver Golf Team has once again qualified for the regional tournament. The boys advanced thanks to a runner-up finish at the District 16-5A golf tournament held at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course on March 27th and 28th. The boys fell only eleven strokes short of the district champion Belton Tigers. The team was led by Junior Miles Parker whose two-day total of 153 earned him the title of individual “District Champion Golfer”. Miles’ tournament included four birdies and 20 pars, the final of which clinched the district title for him. Miles was followed by Senior Nick Brooks and Junior Jack Brown who both turned in two-day totals of 161. Nick’s final round of 76 was a high school tournament personal best for him and included a tap-in birdie on 18, his last hole ever at a district tournament. The 161s were followed by last year’s district champion, Junior Jackson Null’s tournament total of 171. Rounding out the team, Senior Rawley Soliz turned in scores of 85 and 90 for a tournament score of 175. Included on the All-District team are the following: Miles Parker – District Champion, Nick Brooks (4th Place), Jack Brown (6th place), Jackson Null (8th Place), and Austin Watson (9th Place). The team is excited to compete at Tanglewood Golf Course in Pottsboro on April 16th and 17th.
