Junior Miles Parker is the District 16-5A Champion Golfer of the year! Miles shot a two-day total of 153 strokes to defeat the second-place finisher by one stroke! The difference came on the 36th and final hole of play. Miles and Belton Tiger Daniel Perkins played in the same group both days of the tournament and finished the first day in a dead heat. The players were still tied on the tee box of the last hole of the tournament. Miles hit the green in regulation and left himself a lengthy downhill putt. Daniel was just short of the green leaving a tricky chip to try to get close to the hole. Daniel played first and left himself an eight-foot putt with plenty of break. Miles respected the slope a little too much on his first putt and left himself with a 5 foot putt to save his par. Daniel made a great stroke, but his putt just slid by the hole. Miles’ second putt found the bottom of the cup and Miles found himself a district championship. This marks the fifth year in a row the Broncos have claimed the individual district champion and Miles is the third player in school history to claim the first-place medal.
