The Lake Belton Broncos took the field Wednesday evening against the Florence Buffalos, showing grit and determination despite falling 12–0.

First Half
The Buffalos struck quickly, scoring on their opening possession to take a 6–0 lead. Lake Belton’s offense responded with a promising long drive but ultimately stalled short of the end zone. From there, both defenses settled in, and neither team would score again before halftime.

Second Half
Lake Belton received the ball deep in its own territory to open the second half but was unable to establish momentum, resulting in a punt. Florence capitalized on the opportunity with a punt return for a touchdown, extending their lead to 12–0. Despite the score, the Bronco defense stepped up in the second half, completely shutting down the Buffalos’ offense and keeping them from finding any rhythm.
The Broncos’ offense showed flashes of life late, highlighted by a deep 60-yard pass from quarterback Caleb Sutterfield to Julian Martinez. However, the play was erased by a costly penalty, halting what could have been a momentum-shifting drive.

Defensive Standouts
The defense once again proved to be the heart of the Broncos’ effort:
Javier Hernandez led the charge with 6 tackles.
Montic Hodges added 4 tackles.
Bevill contributed 3 tackles.
Daughtery chipped in with an assisted tackle, while several other Broncos contributed to the strong defensive performance.

Offensive Leaders
On the offensive side, the ground game kept fighting for yards:
Sutterfield added 17 rushing yards.
Garza chipped in 28 yards on the ground.
Figueroa contributed 21 rushing yards.

Looking Ahead
While the Broncos couldn’t find the end zone, Wednesdays matchup showed growth compared to last week. The defense’s second-half stand and flashes of big-play ability on offense are positives the team can build upon. With continued effort and discipline, Lake Belton looks to turn these building blocks into results as they progress through the rest of the season.

The Bronco Team is back in action next Wednesday for their home opener at Bronco Field
