In a fierce showdown that lived up to the hype of a cross-town rivalry, Lake Belton’s Freshman Red volleyball team came out on fire and never looked back, sweeping Belton in straight sets—25-17, 25-13—in front of a roaring home crowd. The energy was electric from the first serve, with fans from both sides packing the stands, but it was Lake Belton who took control early and never let up.
In both sets the tone was set at the service line, where Riley Hardin and Brynlie Wurts delivered not only clutch serves but a string of serves that kept Belton on their heels. Hardin’s consistency and placement frustrated the Tigers’ serve receive, while Wurts unleashed a string of aggressive serves that turned momentum decisively in the Broncos’ favor.
On the offensive front, Alexis Walker and Aiyana Rountree were nearly unstoppable. Walker's explosive hits found the floor again and again, while Rountree’s smart placement and timing kept Belton’s blockers guessing. The duo’s front-row presence created a wall at the net that Belton struggled to answer.
As the season continues, the Broncos will look to build on this momentum. But for now, they get to enjoy a big win over their cross-town rival.
