A young Lady Bronco Red Golf Team competed in the 5th Annual Ellison Invitational on Tuesday, September 23 at Stone Tree Golf Course in Killeen.
Five golfers competed for the Red Team which consisted of Sophomore Aurora Nance and Freshmen Kaylee Holler, Emory Jolivet, Hayleigh McConnell, and Whitley Truett. For the freshmen golfers, this was the first high school tournament they have played in and the first time they have walked and played 18 holes of golf. It was a great learning experience for everyone!
McConnell had the low round for the team. She shot a 105, which included two pars and five bogeys.
Jolivet had the next lowest round, shooting 111. She had three bogeys on the day. The next lowest round went to Truett who shot 114 and included one bogey, followed by Nance with a 116. She also had one bogey. Aurora's 116 was a new personal best by one stroke! Her previous personal best was at Stonetree in 2024. Rounding out the scoring for the Red Team was Holler with a 126. Kaylee also had one bogey.
The team shot a 446, which is a respectable score for such a young and inexperienced group. They finished in 8th place, behind mostly seasoned Varsity 1 teams.
The Red and Silver Teams both have a short break in tournaments until October 22 when they will be hosting the Lady Bronco Invitational at Sammons Golf Course.
