Varsity Volleyball traveled to Chaparral High School on Friday and swept the Bobcats in their gym. The first set was marked by a quick run by the Broncos to lead 17-9. After a few serve receive and hitting errors, the Bobcats gap closed was gap at the mercy of the Broncos. But the Broncos stayed on top, taking the set 25-23. The remaining two sets saw short runs by both teams, but ultimately Lake prevailed with several 4 and 5 point streaks to take sets 2 and 3 at 25-18 and 25-17, respectively. Madi Bingham was a force from every position, with 16 assists, 5 digs, and 5 aces from the back row before a powerful 7 kills from the front row. Kaitlyn Hutchins never leaves a gym without the spotlight finding her, with 11 kills on a .208 hitting percentage, 11 digs, and a 2.24 passing percentage, she was a frustration for the Bobcats side. The Bronco offense was spread, with 6 kills from Ava Wood, 5 from Abbi Jones, and 3 from Makinzi Johnson. Haylee Kasner frustrated the Bobcat serve receive with 4 aces and picked up 5 digs. Kruz Smith was a force behind the serving line, with 3 aces, a powerful kill, and 4 digs. Keileigh Krueger led in digs with 13 and also set up 5 assists. Natalia Partida performed with masterful IQ choices, setting up 13 assists and picking up 8 digs. The Broncos left a strong team effort on the floor to stay undefeated in district play and hold the 1st place spot in 16-5A!
