The Lake Belton Bronco Team continued their winning streak Thursday evening, defeating the Jarrell Cougars 22–8 in a strong all-around performance.
The Broncos struck first in the opening quarter when Thomas Gardner broke loose on a 68-yard touchdown run, electrifying the crowd and putting Lake Belton on the board early. The Cougars responded on their next possession, capitalizing on a long drive to tie the game.
With just 37 seconds remaining before halftime, the Broncos showed poise under pressure. Quarterback Michael Stawski orchestrated a 65-yard drive that ended with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Julian Martinez as time expired, giving Lake Belton a 16–8 advantage heading into the break.
The second half was all defense for the Broncos. Led by Triton Vaden, who recorded seven tackles, the unit shut down Jarrell’s offense completely. Mason Schrecenghost added five tackles, Mason Cates contributed three, and several other Broncos stepped up with key stops throughout the half.
To seal the victory, Zylar Figueroa broke free for a 35-yard rushing touchdown, extending the lead to 22–8 and putting the game out of reach for the Cougars.
The win marks the second consecutive victory for the Bronco Team, who are showing strong chemistry and momentum on both sides of the ball. Lake Belton now turns its attention to a big home matchup next week against Brownwood, where they’ll look to make it three straight wins.
