The Lake Belton JV Silver Broncos fought with heart and determination Thursday night but ultimately fell to the Leander Lions, 12–0, in a hard-fought defensive showdown.
From the opening kickoff, both teams showcased physical play and grit, but it was the Broncos’ defense that stood tall for most of the contest. Led by defensive standout Wesley Bradley, the Broncos stifled Leander’s offense, shutting down multiple trick plays and stopping three fake punts that could have swung the momentum. The defense held strong deep into the fourth quarter, only giving up a touchdown late in the game after a crucial offensive turnover put the Lions in prime scoring position.
On the offensive side, Luke Cowan was the bright spot for Lake Belton. Cowan displayed composure and toughness, making key plays that helped move the ball and keep drives alive against a stout Leander defense. Despite several promising possessions, the Broncos were unable to find the end zone.
While the final score didn’t favor the Broncos, the team’s relentless effort and defensive resilience were evident throughout the night. The coaching staff praised the players’ fight and discipline, noting that performances like this build the foundation for future success.
The JV Silver Broncos will look to bounce back next week as they continue to grow and compete with the same determination that defined Thursday’s effort.
