On Friday, November 1, the Lake Belton Lady Broncos traveled to Salado High School to compete in a full day of preseason scrimmages — and they made a strong impression, going undefeated in varsity play.
The varsity team finished the day 3–0, displaying energy, teamwork, and defensive intensity across the board.
Game 1 vs. Glenn: Lake Belton opened the day with a 47–20 victory. Erica Taylor led all scorers with 15 points, while Gemma Pierce anchored the defense, collecting 4 steals and setting the tone on the defensive end.
Game 2 vs. McNeil: The Lady Broncos continued their strong play, earning a 36–12 win. Alexa King paced the team with 12 points, and Aniya Taylor added 4 steals, helping to fuel the transition offense.
Game 3 vs. Salado: Lake Belton closed out the day in dominant fashion with a 53–13 victory. Alexa King once again led the way with 15 points, while Aniya Taylor followed closely with 13 points to cap off an impressive performance for the Lady Broncos.
The JV team also competed well throughout the day, finishing 1–2. Despite the record, there were numerous bright spots, including improved chemistry and effort that show great promise for the upcoming season.
The freshman team played two games, going 1–1. Coaches were excited about their energy, hustle, and teamwork, noting that the young group demonstrated a lot of potential and growth.
Overall, the day at Salado was filled with great takeaways and learning opportunities. The program saw many positives to build on and also identified key areas to continue improving as the season approaches.
