The Lady Bronco Silver Golf team competed in their third tournament of the fall season on Wednesday at Star Ranch in Hutto. This was the first time any of the golfers had played there. Only four members of the team were able to compete and one battled an illness the entire tournament. Their 429 score was the lowest of the season for the team and showed their resilience and grit against their circumstances.
Junior Lyliana Gonzales continues to lead the Silver Team. Gonzales shot a 103 and has been battling bad breaks and bounces on the course. She is hitting the ball well but is struggling to score. She had two pars but was nine strokes better on the back nine than the front, showing had how hard she battled. She had seven bogeys.
Suellen Tillis, the lone senior on the team, shot the next best score, a 105. Tillis was feeling her best but showed incredible 212 effort by playing. She is currently shooting an incredible ten strokes better than her tournament average last year. Suellen had six bogeys.
Shooting a 110 for the tournament was junior Reese Sexton. She had two pars on the day, including one that just missed being a chip in birdie! Reese also had two bogeys.
Close behind, and rounding out the scoring for the team was Sophomore Kaylee Carubelli. Carubelli had two bogeys for her round.
Both the Silver and Red Teams will finish out their fall season on Thursday, November 20 at the Heart of Texas Invitational, hosted by Waco ISD, at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course. Cottonwood will be site of the district tournament this year, so both teams will be working hard to get familiar with the course in the Spring.
