WRESTLING WEEKLY SCHEDULE 11/24 - 11/29

Wrestling Weekly Schedule 11/24 - 11/29

KEVIN GRIMM

Lake Wrestling | 11/23/2025

Wrestlers, Parents, and Guardians,
We had a great weekend at the Capital Classic Tournament. For many wrestlers and fans, this was their first tournament—and there was a lot to learn. Nine JV wrestlers placed in the top four, and our varsity athletes faced tough competition on Friday and Saturday, coming away with multiple wins and a successful first outing of the season.

This week is a school holiday, but we will continue practicing, focusing on conditioning and weight management as we prepare for our first dual and the B-Town Tournament during the first week of December.

Practice Over the Break
We will practice Monday through Wednesday from 8:30–10:00 AM.
Our main focus will be conditioning, so make sure you bring running shoes/flats every day.
Please remember that unexcused absences may affect participation in our upcoming tournament.

Conditioning
Many wrestlers realized this weekend that our conditioning is not yet where it needs to be to compete effectively in matches lasting 3 to 6 minutes. This can be improved both during and outside of practice.
Wrestling is an interval sport, consisting of bursts of energy lasting anywhere from 10 seconds to a full minute. Improving conditioning takes consistent effort—please take this seriously as we move deeper into the season.

Nutrition
It is extremely important for wrestlers to eat consistently.
Not eating to maintain or lose weight is never an option.
Your body needs carbohydrates for fuel and protein to maintain and rebuild muscle.
If you have questions about what, when, or how much you should eat, please ask a coach—we are here to help.

Fundraiser
In just under two weeks, we have passed our second fundraiser goal and exceeded last year’s total!
Please continue to log in and add contact information (emails and phone numbers) and share the link on social media. Every dollar goes directly back into our program for snacks, meals, travel, and new gear.

Team Spirit Store
Our first-ever team store launched this past week with this season’s logo and design. Please feel free to share the link with family and friends.
The store closes December 1, and orders will be delivered before winter break.

Sportsmanship
Wrestling has a long history of strong sportsmanship. Athletes shake hands before and after each match, and wrestlers also shake hands with the opposing coach. Wrestlers may shake hands with the official before the match as well.
Please remember “The Texas Way.”

Wrestlers, parents, and fans should never interact with, yell at, or make physical contact with officials. Any such interactions may result in UIL-mandated consequences, including participation restrictions, removal from the program, and impacts on our school’s ability to secure officials.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to a coach or school administrator.

One Degree More
At 211 degrees, water is hot.
At 212 degrees, water boils—and steam powers the engine that moves us forward.
Let’s have another great week, enjoy time with family and friends, and continue to push #OneDegreeMore.
