Lake Belton Girls Basketball Shines at Mineral Wells Tournament

The Lake Belton High School Girls Basketball Varsity team had an outstanding weekend at the AutoWorld Chevy GMC Year-End Classic Tournament, hosted by Mineral Wells High School. Over four games, the Broncos displayed depth, chemistry, and dominance on both ends of the floor—finishing the tournament as champions.

Lake Belton opened tournament play on Thursday, December 11, with a strong 51–31 victory over Nolan Catholic High School. The Broncos were led by Aniya Taylor and Alexa King, who each recorded 12 points and 7 rebounds. Olivia Dann contributed a strong all-around performance with 9 points and 9 rebounds, helping set the tone for the weekend.

On Friday, December 12, Lake Belton faced Eagle Mountain High School and delivered an impressive 75–31 win. Alexa King paced the offense with 23 points, while Aniya Taylor added a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Olivia Dann chipped in 12 points, and Erica Taylor rounded out the scoring with 10 points.

Later that day, the Broncos took on TC Lubbock, earning a decisive 67–35 victory to advance to the championship game. Alexa King led the way with 17 points, followed by Gemma Pierce with 14 points. Olivia Dann added 11 points, and Aniya Taylor finished with 10 points in another balanced team effort.

In the championship game on Saturday, Lake Belton capped off the weekend with a commanding 61–31 win over Mineral Wells High School. Aniya Taylor led all scorers with 14 points, Ariella Polley added 13 points, and Layla King contributed 11 points to secure the tournament title.

It was a successful weekend of growth and chemistry for the Broncos both on and off the court. Aniya Taylor was named Tournament MVP, while Erica Taylor and Alexa King earned All-Tournament Team honors.

Lake Belton will be back in action Tuesday, December 16, at home against Taylor High School. The game will also serve as Senior Night, as the Broncos look to continue their strong season in front of the home crowd.
