The Freshman Red and Silver teams both took the court this weekend at the Waco High Subvarsity Tournament, gaining valuable experience and showing strong effort throughout the competition.
The Freshman Red team finished the tournament with a 2–1 record, earning 3rd place overall. They opened tournament play in dominant fashion with a 26–0 shutout victory over Waco High, setting the tone with strong defense. Red then faced a tough Temple squad, falling 27–48 in a hard-fought matchup. The team bounced back to close the weekend on a high note, defeating McGregor 36–19, securing their second win and a spot on the podium.
The Freshman Silver team battled through a competitive schedule, finishing with one win and two losses. Silver narrowly fell to University 31–37, followed by another close loss to McGregor 22–28. The team responded with a strong performance in their final game, earning a convincing 27–9 win over Waco High.
Both teams showed growth, resilience, and determination throughout the weekend. The tournament provided important game experience and highlighted the promising potential of the Freshman Red and Silver squads as they continue their season.
