The Lake Belton Bronco JV Silver soccer team delivered a strong and determined performance Tuesday night, earning a hard-fought 2–1 win over Giddings High School in front of an energetic crowd.
From the opening whistle, the Broncos set the tone with disciplined defending and quick ball movement through the midfield. Lake Belton controlled much of the early tempo, applying consistent pressure that paid off when Matthew Pettyjohn found the back of the net, giving the Broncos an important first-half lead.
Giddings responded with intensity after halftime, pushing numbers forward and creating chances of their own. Despite the pressure, the Bronco back line remained composed, limiting clear looks on goal. When Lake Belton needed a spark, Max Mendez delivered, finishing a well-worked attack to extend the lead and provide crucial breathing room.
Giddings managed to pull one goal back late in the match, setting up a tense final stretch. However, the Broncos showed maturity beyond their years, staying organized defensively and working tirelessly to see out the result.
The 2–1 victory highlights the JV Silver squad’s resilience, teamwork, and ability to rise in key moments. With contributions up and down the roster and timely goals from Pettyjohn and Mendez, Lake Belton continues to build momentum as the season progresses.
