The Lake Belton Bronco boys soccer team delivered a courageous and disciplined performance Thursday night but came up just short, suffering a tight 1–0 loss to state-ranked Georgetown High School in a highly competitive matchup.

From the opening whistle, the Broncos matched Georgetown’s pace and physicality, refusing to be intimidated by one of the top teams in the state. The match quickly turned into a defensive chess match, with both sides creating limited but dangerous chances.

Senior goalkeeper Caden Ortiz was outstanding between the posts, turning away multiple high-quality shots and keeping Lake Belton within reach throughout the night. His quick reactions and command of the box proved vital as Georgetown applied sustained pressure, especially in the second half.

Offensively, Zane Fitzwater led the charge up top, battling defenders and creating space with his movement. On the wing, Kai Zuniga consistently challenged Georgetown’s back line with pace and creativity, while Roman Manriquez controlled the midfield, linking play and helping the Broncos maintain possession in crucial moments.

Defensively, Aiden Lassich anchored the back line with strong positioning and timely tackles, helping limit Georgetown’s opportunities and forcing them to earn every chance they created.

Georgetown finally broke through with a lone goal, but Lake Belton continued to fight until the final whistle, pushing numbers forward and nearly finding an equalizer late in the match.

Despite the result, the Broncos’ performance spoke volumes. Competing toe-to-toe with a state-ranked opponent, Lake Belton showed resilience, confidence, and belief—qualities that will serve the team well as the season progresses.
