Lake Belton Girls Basketball Closes Non-District Play with Road Win at Salado

Lake Belton High School | 1/3/2026

The Lake Belton High School girls basketball team wrapped up non-district play in strong fashion with a 59–41 road victory at Salado on January 2.

Lake Belton set the tone early, jumping out to a 17–5 first-quarter lead and maintaining control throughout the game. A balanced scoring effort and relentless defense allowed the Broncos to extend the lead at halftime and put the game away in the second half.

Offensively, Gemma Pierce led the way with 15 points, while Erica Taylor added 13 points, knocking down two three-pointers. Alexa King chipped in 8 points, and Olivia Dann contributed 8 points while being active on the glass. Lake Belton also did a solid job getting to the free-throw line, converting key opportunities to keep momentum on their side.

Defensively, the Broncos were dominant. Lake Belton forced 30 Salado turnovers, turning them into 33 points, and recorded 21 steals as a team. Their pressure defense also led to 20 transition points and 17 second-chance points, creating consistent scoring opportunities despite a physical contest.

With the win, Lake Belton officially closes out non-district play and shifts focus to the next phase of the season.

The Broncos will open district play on January 9, hitting the road to take on Belton High School as they begin the push toward their district goals.
