Lady Bronco Soccer Goes 2-1 in '26 Season Opening Weekend

The Lake Belton Lady Bronco soccer team officially opened their 2026 campaign this past weekend at the Emily Hunter Tournament in Arlington, TX. Facing a variety of North Texas talent from January 1–3, the Lady Broncos showcased an explosive offense and a disciplined defensive line, finishing the tournament with a 2-1 record.

Tournament Highlights:

Game 1: Lake Belton 9, Mansfield Summit 0The Lady Broncos started the tournament with a statement victory. From the opening whistle, the offense was firing on all cylinders, finding the back of the net nine times. The clean sheet was a testament to the backline's organization, allowing the midfielders to push high and dominate possession throughout the match.
Goals were scored by Evelyn Bragewitz (4), Kate Henn, (2), Clara Hill (1), Briseya Lopez (1), and Samantha Vasquez (1).
Assists were given by Teagan Pettijohn (3), Kate Henn (2), Callie Mock (1), and Ariah Vail (1).

Game 2: South Grand Prairie 3, Lake Belton 1In a physical Friday matchup, the Lady Broncos faced a tough South Grand Prairie squad. Despite a hard-fought battle and several scoring opportunities in the second half, Lake Belton couldn't quite close the gap. This proved to be a valuable learning experience against a high-caliber opponent early in the season.
The lone goal was scored by Evelyn Bragewitz and assisted by Teagan Pettijohn.

Game 3: Lake Belton 5, Arlington Seguin 0The Lady Broncos bounced back emphatically on Saturday to close out the tournament. They regained their clinical finishing form, putting five goals past Arlington Seguin. The defense remained stout, securing their second shutout of the weekend and ensuring the team headed back to Belton with momentum on their side.
Goals were scored by Evelyn Bragewitz (2), Clara Hill (1), Mikaela Ebbers (1), and Kate Henn (1).
Assists were given by Samatha Vasquez (1), Ariah Vail (1), and Clara Hill (1).

Goalkeepers Liz Gudgen and Lilly Glass combined for a total of 18 saves and two shutouts on the weekend, helping to command the field in front of them.

With 15 goals scored and only 3 conceded over three games, the Lady Broncos have set a high bar for the weeks to come.
