The Lake Belton High School girls basketball team earned a hard-fought crosstown victory on Friday, January 10, defeating Belton High School 54–50 on the road at Belton High School. The win improves Lake Belton’s overall record to 24–1 and marks a strong start to district play at 1–0.

After a slow offensive start in the opening quarter, Lake Belton responded with a big second period and continued to build momentum throughout the game. The Lady Broncos outscored Belton in each of the final three quarters, showing poise and resilience in a competitive rivalry matchup.

Lake Belton had a balanced scoring effort led by Alexa King and Erica Taylor, who each scored 12 points. King also contributed on both ends of the floor with strong defense and playmaking, while Taylor added timely perimeter shooting and energy. Layla King finished with 11 points, knocking down three three-pointers and converting at the free-throw line. Gemma Pierce added 7 points and was active defensively, recording multiple steals. Olivia Dann chipped in 6 points and provided a steady presence inside, while Ayaana Omisola also scored 6 points, highlighted by efficient shooting from beyond the arc and strong defensive effort. Lake Belton’s defense forced turnovers and came up with key stops late to secure the win.

With the rivalry victory in the books, Lake Belton will quickly turn its attention back to district play. The Lady Broncos will be back in action on Tuesday, January 13, when they host Ellison High School as district competition continues.

Lake Belton looks to build on its strong start and keep momentum rolling as the district season moves forward.
