The Lake Belton Lady Broncos delivered a statement win on Tuesday, January 20, defeating Chaparral High School 61–54 in overtime in a matchup that featured two undefeated district teams.
Chaparral came out strong on their home floor, taking an 18–13 lead after the first quarter and extending the advantage to 36–26 by halftime. Lake Belton responded with grit and determination in the second half, turning the momentum with a strong third quarter. The Lady Broncos outscored Chaparral 16–9 in the third, cutting the deficit to just three points and trailing 45–42 heading into the fourth quarter.
Defense and composure fueled Lake Belton in the final period as the Lady Broncos locked in and battled back to tie the game at 52–52, forcing overtime. Once in the extra period, Lake Belton took complete control, pulling away with dominant play on both ends of the floor to secure the 61–54 victory.
Alexa King led the way offensively with 18 points, while Aniya Taylor added 13 points and Erica Taylor contributed 12. Layla King chipped in 9 points, and Olivia Dann made a major impact defensively, controlling the glass with multiple strong rebounds and providing key stops throughout the game.
With the win, Lake Belton improves to 27–1 on the season and moves to 4–0 in district play, remaining undefeated as district competition continues.
