The Lake Belton Lady Broncos delivered another dominant performance on Thursday, January 29, defeating Belton High School 78–40 in district action on a special Teacher Appreciation Night.
Before tipoff, the program recognized and thanked the teachers who pour into Lake Belton student-athletes every day. The Lady Broncos expressed their gratitude to all teachers for their dedication, support, and commitment to helping students succeed both in the classroom and on the court.
Lake Belton set the tone early, jumping out to a 27–5 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. The Lady Broncos continued to control the game in the second quarter, outscoring Belton 18–8 to take a commanding 45–13 advantage into halftime. Strong defensive pressure and balanced scoring remained consistent in the second half, with Lake Belton winning the third quarter 18–14 and closing the game with a 15–13 fourth quarter to secure the 78–40 victory.
Anya Taylor led the way offensively with 18 points while shooting efficiently from the field and beyond the arc. She also contributed four assists and four steals. Gemma Pierce added 13 points, knocking down three three-pointers. Ariella Polley chipped in eight points, and Alexa King contributed seven points along with outstanding defensive effort, recording eight deflections and three steals.
Lake Belton’s depth was on full display as multiple players made an impact across the stat sheet. Olivia Dann was active on the boards with four offensive rebounds and provided strong interior defense. Brylee Craddick dished out four assists, Erica Taylor added five points and six deflections, and Ayaana Omisola brought energy inside with five offensive rebounds. Dannika Kelley brought energy and a strong presence at the high post. Layla King was a consistent force on offense knocking down timely three pointers.
With the win, Lake Belton improves to 29–1 overall and remains undefeated in district play at 6–0. The Lady Broncos will be back in action tonight as they travel to Ellison for another district matchup, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
