The Lake Belton High School Broncos hosted the defending state champion Midway Pantherettes on Friday night. In what was only their second scrimmage of the young 2026 season, the Broncos proved they could go toe-to-toe with the best in Texas, ultimately falling just short in a 4-2 battle.
The headline of the night was the Broncos' defense. After a shaky outing in their previous game, Lake Belton responded with a flawless, error-free performance. The infield and outfield worked in perfect harmony, providing a sturdy backbone for the pitching staff.
The Bronco pitchers looked sharp against a potent Midway lineup. The staff combined for 8 strikeouts, consistently finding ways to navigate out of jams and keep the game within reach.
The Broncos conclude their scrimmage schedule next week with two home matchups. They host College Station on Monday and Salado on Friday; both games are expected to be highly competitive.
