The Lake Belton Varsity Broncos continued their preseason momentum last night, putting together a complete performance to defeat the College Station Cougars 5-2.
The Broncos’ pitching staff combining for a total of 7 strikeouts, Lake Belton’s arms kept the Cougars off-balance and out of rhythm.
Offensively, Lake Belton played "winning softball," finishing the night with 7 hits. While the volume was solid, it was the timing that made the difference; the Broncos excelled at moving runners and delivering the big hit when it mattered most. Speed remains a primary weapon for this squad, as they swiped a total of 4 bases to keep constant pressure on the College Station defense.
For the second consecutive outing, the Broncos looked solid on the defensive side.
The Broncos hope to carry this momentum into Friday Night matchup with the Salado Eagles. This matchup marks the end of the scrimmage season before the games start counting for real.
