The Lake Belton Lady Broncos continued their dominant district run on Friday, February 6, defeating Chaparral High School by a final score of 56–41 during a special Parent Night at Lake Belton High School.
Lake Belton set the tone early, racing out to a 14–2 lead after the first quarter. The Lady Broncos maintained control throughout the game, leading 25–16 at halftime before delivering a decisive third quarter where they outscored Chaparral 19–11. Lake Belton closed out the game with composure in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
The victory officially solidified Lake Belton as the District 16–5A Champions, a testament to the team’s consistency, toughness, and team-first mentality throughout district play.
Aniya Taylor led all scorers with 23 points, knocking down four three-pointers while contributing on both ends of the floor. Olivia Dann added 12 points and strong rebounding presence inside, while Ariella Polley provided efficient scoring and physical play in the paint. Alexa King and Erica Taylor played key roles defensively and as facilitators, helping fuel Lake Belton’s balanced offensive attack.
Friday night was made even more special as the program celebrated Parent Night, honoring the families whose support has been instrumental all season long. The evening also featured a powerful and emotional senior moment. Following the game, seniors Amara Sanchez and Ariella Polley laid their uniforms on the court, symbolizing that they left everything they had on the floor in their final home game as Lady Broncos.
Their leadership, dedication, and commitment over the past four years have left a lasting legacy within the Lake Belton basketball program. Thank you, Amara Sanchez and Ariella Polley, for everything you have given to Lake Belton Basketball.
With the win, Lake Belton improves to 32–1 overall and 9–0 in district play. The Lady Broncos will return to action for their final game of the regular season on Tuesday, February 10, on the road against Waco University High School, with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 PM.
