The Lake Belton JV Silver squad battled until the final whistle Tuesday night but came up just short in a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Waco High School JV.
From the opening kick, the match had the intensity and physicality of a district showdown. Both teams competed for every ball, with neither side willing to concede space. The Broncos established a strong defensive presence early, winning tackles in the midfield and limiting quality chances in the attacking third.
Lake Belton’s back line stayed organized throughout the night, stepping up to clear dangerous balls and shutting down runs before they could develop. The midfield worked tirelessly to connect passes and generate offensive momentum, while the forwards pressed high and created several promising opportunities. Despite their effort and discipline, the Broncos were unable to find the finishing touch.
Waco High broke the deadlock midway through the second half, capitalizing on a brief opening to net what would stand as the game’s lone goal. Even after falling behind, Lake Belton continued to push forward with urgency. The Silver squad generated late pressure and fought for an equalizer until the final seconds, but the visitors held on.
While the result didn’t go their way, the Broncos showed resilience, grit, and growth in a tightly contested match. The defensive effort and competitive spirit displayed Tuesday night reflect a team that continues to improve and compete at a high level.
Lake Belton JV Silver will look to build on the positives from this performance as they prepare for their next district matchup.
