The Boys Varsity Silver Golf Team competed in the two-day state preview tournament at Legacy Hills Golf Course in Sun City on the 20th and 21st of February. Chilly mornings turned into beautiful days as the boys test drove the course which will be used to play the 5A State Golf Tournament. The team for the two-day event was 670, which put the team in 12th place out of 18 teams. The greens took some getting used to, and we’re hoping they’re just a little more receptive at the end of April. The team was led by Senior Jackson Null who had a tournament total of 160, which included a second day score of 78. Close on Jackson’s heels, Senior Miles Parker had a total of 162 strokes. He played very consistently firing of identical 81s each day. Coming in third on the team Senior Gavin Kerr struggled through second day back problems (but refused to withdraw) and turned in scorecards totaling 173 swings. Senior Brayden Hoff was fourth on the team just a couple of strokes behind Gavin with a tournament score of 175, including a great score of 80 on the first day. Rounding out the team Sophomore Weston Minzak had a total score of 198. The boys are anxiously awaiting their next tournament which will be the Damron Invitational at Cottonwood Creek and Bear Ridge (both courses in Waco) on March 6th and 7th.
