The Lake Belton Junior Varsity Broncos put on an offensive clinic this past Tuesday, cruising to a dominant 13-5 victory over Troy JV.
Lake Belton ignited the scoreboard with a massive six-run second. Jacobs got things moving with an RBI triple, followed by a bases-loaded walk by Smith. The highlight of the frame was a bases-clearing triple by McConnell, who drove in three of his game-high four RBIs in one swing.
The momentum carried into the third, where Acosta delivered a clutch single that brought home three more runs. A passed ball allowed another Bronco to cross the plate, pushing the lead further out of reach.
In the fourth, Shirley provided the fireworks with a three-run in-the-park home run, effectively sealing the win for the Broncos.
Beyond the power hitting, the Broncos showed impressive patience at the plate, drawing six total walks. Letts and Smith showed great eyes, leading the team with two free passes each.
On the mound, the trio of Teague, Acosta, and Shirley combined to limit Troy's opportunities and protect the lead through the final innings.
The Lake Belton Junior Varsity Broncos hope to carry this momentum into Thursday as they will be on the road for the Copperas Cove Softball Tournament.
