The Lake Belton JV Red Broncos put together a competitive stretch of games this week, highlighted by an exciting 12–11 walk-off victory over Legacy.
The Broncos opened the stretch with a strong 4–0 win over Copperas Cove. Lake Belton jumped on the board early and never looked back behind a dominant pitching performance from Hamilton Hughes, who threw five scoreless innings while striking out eight and allowing just three hits. Heston Seideman led the offense with two RBIs, while Braxton Bronson, Chase Stanford, and Gavin Kuechenmeister each added hits. The Broncos also applied pressure on the bases, stealing seven bases in the win.
Lake Belton dropped the next game 5–0 to Harker Heights despite solid defense that included no errors. Kyson Fish started on the mound for the Broncos, striking out four across four innings.
The Broncos bounced back later that day in dramatic fashion against Legacy. Trailing late, Lake Belton erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure a 12–11 walk-off win. A key moment came when Andrew McGuire delivered a clutch double that drove in two runs. Braxton Bronson also played a major role, delivering a triple earlier in the game, while Gavin Kuechenmeister and Hughes added important hits during the comeback.
Gavin Powers had a standout day at the plate with four hits, while Hughes drove in three runs. Powers also created havoc on the bases with three stolen bases as the Broncos continued their aggressive baserunning.
Overall, the Broncos showed resilience throughout the stretch, combining strong pitching, aggressive baserunning, and timely hitting to highlight an exciting week of baseball.
The Broncos are now 7-4 on the young season and will continue this Thursday at home vs Westlake in a double header at 5 and 7pm!
