The Lady Bronco Golf Silver Team participated in what was scheduled to be a two day, multi-site tournament this weekend on March 6 and 7. However the tournament was shortened to one day and one site due to weather.
The Silver Team played what would be their only round on a very blustery Friday at Bear Ridge in Waco. For most of the golfers, this was their first time playing the course, which is the longest course the team has played this year.
The team finished the tournament in 11th place.
Lyliana Gonzalez, junior, again shot the lowest round for the Silver Team, with a 99. She had one birdie and 12 bogeys. She showed incredible mental toughness after a couple of unfortunate bounces early on put her +11 after three holes and managed to play the next fifteen holes in +16. She finished the tournament in 26th place individually, out of almost 100 golfers.
Sophomore Kaylee Carubelli shot a 107 for the tournament, just one shot short of tying her personal best. She had six bogeys on the day.
Junior Lillie Mikes struggled with consistency, but managed to shoot a 116, which included two pars and two bogeys.
Araceli Young, junior, who decided to join the Lady Bronco Golf team in January, also played. This was her first tournament, after just picking up the game a few short months ago. She learned a lot about tournament play and represented LBHS well.
Both teams will play in the Collin Clark Invitational at Delaware Springs in Burnet on Wednesday, March 11.
