The Lake Belton JV Red Broncos used a massive seventh inning to pull away and secure a 9-3 win over Lake Travis on Monday.

Locked in a tight game late, the Broncos erupted for seven runs in the final frame to break things open. Key contributions came across the lineup—Gavin Powers delivered a sacrifice fly that brought in a run, while Gavin Kuechenmeister added an RBI single. Xavier Larson and Cooper Smith each worked bases-loaded walks to drive in runs, and continued pressure forced multiple defensive miscues that helped extend the inning.

Lake Belton first got on the board in the second inning off a passed ball, then regained the lead in the sixth capitalizing on a Lake Travis error to go up 2-1 before the decisive seventh.

On the mound, Hamilton Hughes set the tone early with three no-hit innings, striking out three. Gunner Rich earned the win in relief, going four innings while allowing three runs and keeping Lake Travis in check when it mattered most.

Offensively, the Broncos showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks, with Larson and Lyam Whitmire leading the way. Timely hitting and disciplined at-bats proved to be the difference as Lake Belton pulled away late.

The Broncos now turn their attention to their next matchup as they travel to College Station later this week

Their record is now 9-5 on the season.
