Lake Belton JV Red delivered a pair of dominant performances in a district doubleheader against Ellison on Monday, showcasing explosive offense, lockdown pitching, and aggressive base running in 15–1 and 10–1 victories.
In game one, Lake Belton wasted no time setting the tone. A big first inning, highlighted by RBI contributions from Braxton Bronson, Gunner Rich, and Kyson Fish, gave the Broncos early control. Bronson added an inside-the-park home run later in the game, while Cooper Smith and Fish continued to drive in runs as the lead quickly grew.
On the mound, Gavin Kuechenmeister was outstanding, striking out 10 batters over five innings while allowing just two hits and one run. He kept Ellison off balance all night, setting the tone for a complete team performance. Offensively, Lake Belton piled up 10 hits, drew six walks, and stole an impressive 17 bases, constantly applying pressure.
Game two followed a similar script, with Lake Belton once again overpowering Ellison, this time 10–1. Gavin Powers led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and two singles. The Broncos broke the game open in the fourth inning behind a James Kelley RBI double, a two-run triple from Ryan Malone, and a two-run double by Powers.
Lake Belton added five more runs in the fifth inning, capitalizing on defensive errors and timely hitting, including a key two-RBI single from Gunner Rich. The team continued to stay aggressive on the base paths, swiping seven bases in the game.
Heston Seideman dominated on the mound in game two, striking out 10 batters while allowing just one hit and one run over five innings. Marshall Ogelsby came in to close things out with a scoreless inning of relief, striking out two. Defensively, the Broncos were flawless, not committing a single error.
Across both games, Lake Belton JV Red showcased their depth and discipline, combining strong pitching, opportunistic hitting, and relentless pressure on the bases to secure an impressive doubleheader sweep over Ellison.
The Broncos are now 14-5 on the year and 4-0 in district play!
Their next games will be against Waco High School April 9th in another doubleheader at 5 and 7pm at Lake Belton High School.
