Abilene, Texas – With grit, grunt, and pure determination, Lake Belton's Evan Lazott stepped onto the biggest stage in Texas high school powerlifting—and proved he could compete with the best of them. Evan Lazott placed 12th in the State on Saturday. His PRs were all crushed in this meet. He managed to break the school record in Bench 460.
Behind the Scenes: The momentum of our Team
Success on the platform isn't built overnight. It's forged through countless hours of preparation, backed by a supportive network of parents and coaches, and fueled by a culture of camaraderie.
That culture is central to the team's identity. Coaches emphasize the power of unity, noting, "These athletes push each other every day. They celebrate each other’s victories and lift each other up after setbacks. That’s what makes this team so special."
Team leaders echo that sentiment. "We’re like a family," one athlete shared. "When one of us succeeds, we all succeed. That mindset drives us to be our best."
But the impact of the sport extends far beyond the platform. Beneath the medals and trophies lies something even more lasting: the development of discipline, resilience, and the ability to rise to any challenge. Whether in competition or the classroom, the lessons learned through powerlifting are shaping these athletes for years to come.
A Look Ahead to 2027
With the 2026 season officially in the books, the Lake Belton High School powerlifting team has already turned its attention to the future. The team is deep in training, fueled by a collective determination to bring home even more hardware next year.
A special thank you to our parents for your unwavering support, and to our seniors for continuing to build a legacy that will last for years to come. Go Broncos!
