For the sixth year in a row, your Lady Bronco Silver Golf Team are Regional Qualifiers! The Lake Belton Lady Bronco Golf Teams played in their District Golf Tournament on April 1 and 2 at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course.
The District Tournament turned out to be quite the gut check for the golf teams this year as they fought against 25 mph winds on day 1 and a weather delayed, shortened and wet day 2. Though neither team turned in the scores they had hoped and worked for, they never gave up and showed incredible 212 effort.
On Wednesday, the Silver Team finished the day solidly in second place behind Belton High School.
Lyliana Gonzalez led the way for the Silver Team, shooting a 109. She had three pars on the day and four bogeys.
Senior Suellen Tillis, playing in her last district tournament had the next best round for the team with a 114 with five bogeys.
Kaylee Carubelli shot a 116 with one par and four bogeys followed by Lillie Mikes who had three bogeys and shot 123.
Freshman Hayleigh McConnell had three bogeys in her round on the first day, finishing off the scoring the Silver Team.
With the threat of heavy rain and storms on Thursday morning, it was decided to delay the start of the tournament and only play nine holes. Gonzalez again led the way for the team but this time was tied with Mikes for the lowest round. They both shot 57. Gonzalez had two bogeys. Mikes had three.
Tillis shot 60 on day 2 with one bogey, followed by Carubelli with a 61 and one bogey.
McConnell finished out the scoring.

The Red Team made up of freshmen and new golfers was just ten strokes out of 3rd place after day one, behind Waco University.
Emory Jolivet had the lowest score for the Red Team on day 1 with a 124. She had two bogeys on the day.
Kaylee Holler had a 128, which was her best round of her short career, with the regular UIL rules of golf in play. She had also two bogeys.
Junior Araceli Young shot a 139 with two bogeys and freshman Emily McMillon had 143.
Hoping to catch University on day 2 the Red Team came out swinging but with the conditions and inexperience, weren't able to close the gap.
Jolivet again led the way with a 69, followed by Holler with a 70.
Young had a 72 and McMillon had a 77.
The District Tournament concludes the season for the Red Team. They finished 4th. They grew in their ability and knowledge of the game and are ready to start working for next year.
Lyliana Gonzalez and Suellen Tillis received medals for their Top 10 finish in the tournament; Gonzalez was 8th and Tillis was 10th.
The Silver Team will continue their season at the Regional Golf Tournament at Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro. They have a week and half to get ready for it. The Regional Tournament is April 15 and 16.
