The Texas Relays are where the best of the best come to test their limits, and this past weekend, the Lake Broncos didn’t just show up. They announced themselves.
With grit, poise, and championship-level execution, Bella Garcia and the 4x200 relay squad delivered one of the most inspiring weekends in program history, walking away with two new school records and a surge of momentum that has the entire team buzzing.
The fireworks began in the 100-meter dash, where Bella Garcia unleashed the race of her life. Exploding out of the blocks with confidence and control, she crossed the line in a stunning 11.76, a new PR, a new school record, and a massive leap from her previous best of 11.95.
Bella placed 2nd in her heat and 13th overall, but the impact went far beyond placement. With this performance, she rocketed up the rankings to No. 43 in Texas and No. 88 in the entire United States. That’s not just improvement, that’s arrival.
Then came the relay that lit up the stadium.
The quartet of Nylah Berrian, Moriah Rydberg, Aleya Russell, and Bella Garcia delivered a masterpiece in the 4x200, clocking a blazing 1:40.31, a PR, a new school record, and a ticket to the Saturday finals.
And they earned it the hard way.
Saturday brought rain, wind gusts, and the kind of conditions that no one wants to run in. But the Lake Broncos didn’t flinch. They battled through the storm, executed with heart, and finished 6th overall, climbing the rankings to No. 26 in Texas and No. 44 in the nation.
That’s elite company, and they earned every inch of it.
The team returned home with more than medals and records. They came back with belief, with momentum, and with a fire that’s already fueling this week’s district.
Two school records.
Two national-level performances.
One unforgettable weekend.
