Bronco Tennis Dominates District: Eight Qualify for Regionals
The Lake Belton High School (LBHS) Tennis team delivered a masterclass performance this past Wednesday, sweeping the Boys and Girls District Championships. In a display of pure court dominance, the Broncos secured regional berths for eight athletes, who will now advance to the Regional Tournament on April 17th and 18th.
Per tournament regulations, only the top two finishers in each category earn the right to advance, making the Broncos' heavy representation a testament to the program's depth and grit.
The Gold Standard: District Champions
The Broncos captured first place in nearly every category, led by a mix of veteran leadership and rising young talent.
Boys Singles: Freshman sensation Reid Ramirez brought home the gold, proving himself a force to be reckoned with.
Girls Singles: Junior Sara Stephens dominated her bracket to secure a 1st place finish.
Boys Doubles: Senior Dhruv Bhat and Junior Ethan Muehlstein showcased perfect chemistry to take the top spot.
Mixed Doubles: The powerhouse duo of Senior Hannah Maroney and Sophomore Andrew Williams outplayed the field to claim their championship medals.
The Silver Streak: Regional Bound
Securing the crucial second-place spot to ensure their post-season continues, the Junior duo of Sonia Padmanabhan and Brianna Dubrocq fought through a tough bracket to finish as runners-up in Girls Doubles.
Podium Finishes
While only the top two advance, the Broncos' presence on the podium didn't stop there. The following athletes earned 3rd Place finishes, contributing vital points to the overall team championship:
Quint Mackenzie (9th) and Eli Stewart (Boys Doubles)
James Robinson (9th) and Lydia Pulavarti (10th) (Mixed Doubles)
Ben Johnson (11th) (Boys Singles)
Looking Ahead to Regionals
With both team trophies in hand, the "Elite Eight" now turn their focus to the Regional stage. The Bronco community is riding high on this wave of momentum as these athletes prepare to represent LBHS against the best in the region.
Congratulations to all the players and coaches! Way to go, LBHS Tennis! #RISEUP
