The Lake Belton Varsity Broncos clinched the district championship in commanding fashion on Friday, defeating the Ellison Eagles 16-1. The victory was highlighted by a historic milestone, as Coach Kelsie McEachern celebrated her 100th career win as the Bronco head coach.
The Broncos set the tone immediately, exploding for 10 runs in the first inning. The offensive onslaught began with walks by Brysen Gott, Williams, and Maliyah Gooden, all of which brought home runs. Avery Park sparked the rally with a two-run triple, while Analicia Diaz added an RBI single and later scored on a tag-up. Madison Perkins contributed a triple for an RBI, and Gott rounded out the frame with a two-run double.
Lake Belton kept the pressure on in the second inning, tallying five more runs on four hits. Addison Sims sparked the surge with a triple to score a run, followed by a two-run triple from Isabell Magana. Brysen Gott added a sacrifice fly to drive in a run, and Nani Rubio capped the inning with an RBI single. The Broncos added one final run in the third, as Sims launched her second triple of the day down the left-field line.
On the mound, Jackson earned the win, delivering a sharp performance by limiting the Eagles to just three hits and one run over three innings, while striking out four and walking one.
The Broncos showcased an aggressive and productive offense throughout the contest. In addition to their extra-base power—led by Sims’ two triples and additional triples from Park, Magana, and Perkins—the team demonstrated patience at the plate and prowess on the basepaths. Magana and Gooden each swiped four bases, while Diaz and Perkins also recorded stolen bases. Natalie Hosch and Gott both contributed doubles, while Madison Naser was hit by a pitch.
With the district title secured, the Broncos now look ahead as they near the playoffs, starting with a road trip to Waco this coming Tuesday for their next district matchup.
