For the second time this summer incoming freshman Hayes Pethtel won an STPGA tournament in the Boys 11-14 Division. This victory came at the Summer Showdown at Pebble Creek Country Club in College Station. Hayes showed great grit and determination in a come-from-behind win. After sitting two shots back following an opening-round 71, Hayes fired a 74 on day two to claim the championship at 1 over par for the tournament. He paired steady scoring with an offensive mindset, recording a division-high six birdies over the two rounds to power his way to victory.
Hayes will tee the ball up next at the two day Texas Youth Classic at Bear Ridge and Cottonwood Creek Golf Courses in Waco on June 30th and July 1st.
