The Lake Belton High School Bronco Cross Country team officially kicked off the 2026 season on Friday, August 14th, at the Temple Invitational held at Lion's Park. It was a morning of exceptional grit and milestone achievements as the Broncos secured high-ranking finishes across all divisions.

Varsity Girls: Team Champions

The Varsity Girls division set a powerful tone for the day, securing a 1st place overall team finish. The victory was anchored by a deep roster, featuring five runners who placed within the top 20 individual standings:

-Keira Dzenowski: 3rd Place
-Jenna Benedick: 11th Place
-Sarah Gray: 14th Place
-Lucy Loa: 16th Place
-Demi Fisher: 18th Place

The Varsity Boys followed with a stellar 2nd place overall team finish. The highlight of the race was a historic performance by Wyatt Potts, who shattered the previous school record. Potts finished in 3rd place individually with a time of 16:31, a significant 21-second improvement from the former record of 16:52.

Additional top-20 contributors for the Varsity Boys included:

-Josiah Briggs: 16th Place
-Jack McCullagh: 20th Place

The success continued into the JV races, demonstrating the program's impressive depth for the 2026 season.

The JV Girls matched the Varsity performance by finishing 1st place overall. Their dominance was evident with seven runners placing in the top 20:

-Camryn Mikulas: 2nd Place
-Shreya Muni: 7th Place
-Abigail Glasser: 9th Place
-Gracie Hassell: 11th Place
-Avery Reinhardt: 12th Place
-Harper Holt: 15th Place
-Catalina Esquivel: 17th Place

The JV Boys also delivered a strong showing, contributing to the overall momentum of the program as they faced off against a wide range of schools in the rolling schedule.

Following this successful debut, the Broncos will prepare for their next competition. The team is scheduled to travel to the Vista Ridge Invitational at Vista Ridge High School on Friday, August 21, 2026.
