Lake Belton Volleyball Competes at Pflugerville Volleypfest

The Lake Belton Broncos traveled to Pflugerville ISD to compete in the three-day Pflugerville Volleypfest, held August 20-22. The Broncos faced a competitive field throughout the tournament, battling through pool play before advancing to the Silver Bracket on the final day.

Day One
The Broncos opened tournament play against McCallum, Southwest and Madison. Lake Belton fell to a persistent McCallum team in the first match of the day but quickly bounced back, earning wins over both Southwest and Madison.

Ava Wood led the Broncos offensively with 17 kills, followed closely by Aspen Cory with 15. Haylee Kasner paced the defense with 17 digs, while Kruz Smith added 16 and Kenna Morrison contributed 12. Kylie Morganroth led the team in assists with 18 for the day.

Day Two
The Broncos advanced to the second day of pool play at host school Pflugerville High School, where they faced Pflugerville, Brock and Lake Ridge. Lake Belton opened the day with a win over Pflugerville but was unable to find its rhythm against Brock and Lake Ridge, falling in both matches.

Gracie Lott led the offensive effort with 14 kills, while Wood added 13. Kasner once again led the defense with 18 digs, followed by Kamryn Daniels with 14 and Morrison with 12. Makinzi Johnson contributed 3 blocks. Morganroth recorded 18 assists, while Daniels added 11.

Day Three
Lake Belton earned a spot in the Silver Bracket and returned to Pflugerville High School for the final day of competition. The Broncos faced Tomball Memorial in the opening match of the double-elimination tournament, ultimately falling to the Wildcats.

In their second match of the day, the Broncos took on Pflugerville Hendrickson. Lake Belton battled back from a 10-point deficit to capture the first set, showing resilience and determination. Hendrickson responded by pulling away in the second and third sets, ending the Broncos' tournament run.
Wood led the offense with 13 kills, while Lott added six. Kasner anchored the defense with 25 digs, followed by Morrison with 16 and Smith with 12. Mughelli contributed three blocks, while Daniels recorded 15 assists and Morganroth added nine.

Overall, the Broncos continued to build momentum throughout the tournament, gaining valuable experience and lessons that will help them as the season progresses. Lake Belton will return home Tuesday night to host Leander. JV will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by varsity at 6:30 p.m.
