The Lake Belton Broncos hosted the Temple Wildcats on Friday night for an emotional home finale that honored three major career milestones and the graduating Senior Class of 2027.
Ahead of the opening serve, the Broncos held a special pregame ceremony expressing gratitude to their parents for their constant dedication and support throughout the season. The evening also celebrated three standout achievements, with Ava Wood surpassing 500 career kills, Kamryn Daniels recording her 500th assist, and Haylee Kasner reaching 500 career digs. Seniors Audrey Mughelli, Kristen Morales, Kruz Smith, Arielah Vargas, and Ava Wood were recognized for their dedication and commitment to Lake Belton Volleyball.
Fueled by Senior Night energy, Lake Belton aimed to crown the milestone evening with a victory. However, Temple weathered the emotional charge, holding off the Broncos in a tightly contested four-set battle.
Lake Belton got off to a sluggish start in the opening set, falling behind early and failing to overcome the deficit in a 19–25 loss. Refusing to back down, the Broncos answered in set two with grit and cohesive teamwork, fighting back to capture a thrilling 26–24 victory.
Momentum shifted back to the Wildcats in the third set, as unforced errors and miscommunication cost the Broncos in a 17–25 setback. Lake Belton battled relentlessly in the fourth set to regain the lead, but Temple rallied late. The Broncos were unable to capitalize on two set-point opportunities, allowing the Wildcats to seal the match with a razor-thin 24–26 victory.
Wood powered the Lake Belton attack with a team-high 13 kills, supported by strong net play from Gracie Lott (10) and Madilyn Jackman (8). On defense, Kasner complemented her milestone night with a team-leading 17 digs, while Kruz Smith (10) and Kristen Morales (9) anchored the back row. Audrey Mughelli had an incredible 5 blocks for the evening. Directing the offense, Daniels led the way with 20 assists, alongside 15 from Kylie Morgenroth.
Lake Belton heads on the road next week to close out the regular season, visiting the Midway Panthers on Tuesday night before traveling to face Bryan on Friday.
