The Lake Belton Freshman Silver volleyball team showed resilience and determination Tuesday night, battling back from a first-set loss to defeat Midway in three sets. After dropping the opening set 25-13, the Broncos regrouped and found their rhythm, winning the second set 25-23 before closing out the match with a 25-17 victory in the third.
Lake Belton came out nervous in the opening set, allowing Midway to take control early. However, the Broncos refused to let the slow start define their night. In the second set, Lake Belton showed improved composure and fought through a tight battle, finding the plays they needed to even the match at one set apiece.
The momentum carried into the deciding set, where the Broncos began to pull away. Their growing confidence and energy forced Midway's coaching staff to use two early timeouts in an attempt to slow Lake Belton's momentum. Midway ultimately ran out of timeouts as the Broncos continued to build their lead and secure the victory.
Addie Bossen was a wizard behind the service line, creating pressure and helping Lake Belton establish momentum. Ella Phillips was outstanding in setting, consistently putting her teammates in position to attack and keeping the offense moving.
At the net, London Jackson delivered big swings that Midway had no match for and strong blocks, giving Midway very few answers for her presence. Taylee Conway also played a major role in keeping the Broncos' effort and momentum alive, making multiple point-saving plays that helped Lake Belton stay in control during crucial moments.
The Broncos' ability to overcome their rough start and respond with confidence highlighted their growth as a team. Lake Belton's teamwork, energy and determination proved to be the difference as Freshman Silver rallied to earn an impressive three-set victory over Midway and hope to carry that over into their final match of the season against Bryan.
