With their playoff hopes hanging in the balance, the Lake Belton Broncos delivered when it mattered most on Friday night, sweeping the Bryan Lady Vikings in straight sets (25-20, 25-22, 25-17) to close out the regular season.
Entering the night needing a win and a Copperas Cove loss to stay alive in the postseason race, Lake Belton put on a clinic in execution against a Bryan squad coming off a high-energy road sweep of Chaparral earlier in the week.
The Broncos set the tone early in Game 1, coupling high-intensity defense with disciplined execution. Despite several surging pushes from Bryan, Lake Belton stood tall to claim the opening frame 25-20.
Set 2 proved to be a grueling, point-for-point battle down the stretch. Neither team yielded much ground until the Broncos found another gear late, pulling away to secure a 25-22 victory and take full command of the match.
With momentum firmly in their corner, Lake Belton dialed up its best offensive performance of the night in the third set. Fueled by crisp communication and relentless rallies, the Broncos’ two-setter attack kept Bryan off-balance just enough for the Broncos to finish the third set 25-17.
Setters Kamryn Daniels and Kylie Morgenroth orchestrated the spread offense to perfection, dishing out 16 assists apiece for the evening. Ava Wood spearheaded the attack with a team-high 10 kills, supported by Gracie Lott's 7 kills. Morgan Campbell and Madilyn Jackman added a balanced punch up front, chipping in 6 kills each.
On the defensive end, Taylan Cole anchored the backline with a game-high 15 digs, while Kruz Smith provided crucial coverage with 12. Lake Belton also dominated from the service line, backed by 4 aces each from Morgenroth and Cole.
