JV Shakes off Early Mishaps to Get Back to Winning Ways

The Lake Belton JV team came out against a well coached, hard fought Gateway team Tuesday evening. The Broncos came out flat for the entire 1st half, struggling to put away a Gators team early. After the 1st quarter, the Broncos were leading by 2, 11-9. The 2nd quarter, the Broncos turned the ball over time after time to go into halftime with a 23-19 deficit. The 3rd quarter was when the Broncos came out with the intensity needed, creating a lot of turnovers and getting easy baskets to regain and extend their lead. Lake Belton went into the 4th quarter up 39- 29. The 4th quarter was back and forth between the 2 teams with the Broncos finishing the game with a 51-43 victory to move to 7-1 on the season. The scoring breakdown for the game:

Christian Onchweri - 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal

Dez Ravizee - 7 points, 1 block, 2 steals

Zach Rahm - 3 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist

Haden Zacharias - 1 steal

Gavin Owens - 9 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals

Jaden Baker - 3 points, 4 rebounds

Colt Smith - 4 points, 1 rebound

Nick Martin - 8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals

Charles Hanson - 9 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals

The JV will be back in action on Friday and Saturday this week as they will take part in the Midway Tournament with their 1st game scheduled for Friday morning at 10:15 at Midway High School against Copperas Cove.
