Lake Belton Lady Broncos Shine in Aggieland Tournament

The Lake Belton Lady Broncos showcased their prowess on the court in the Aggieland Tournament held from December 27th to 29th. The tournament was a rollercoaster of intense matchups, filled with standout performances and historic milestones for the team.

The Lady Broncos kicked off their campaign in pool play against Hallsville, setting the tone for their tournament journey with an impressive 68-44 victory. The game marked a significant moment as Classidy Gladney not only led the scoring charge with an outstanding 25 points but also achieved a personal milestone by reaching her 1000th career point. Alongside Gladney, Ella Wagenaar contributed 16 points, while Allie Uzzell added 11 points, solidifying the team's dominant start.

However, their second pool play game against A&M Consolidated resulted in a hard-fought 43-51 loss. Despite the setback, Gladney continued her scoring streak with 14 points, complemented by Uzzell and Angie Deleon, who each contributed 10 points, showcasing the team's resilience and depth.

With a 1-1 record in pool play, the Lady Broncos entered the Silver Bracket for the remainder of the tournament. Undeterred by the earlier loss, Lake Belton rallied back in bracket play, defeating Lufkin High School convincingly with a score of 56-35. Gladney led the charge again with 18 points, supported by Wagenaar and Deleon, who each added 8 points, showcasing the team's versatility.

The momentum continued as the Lady Broncos faced Rockwall in a closely contested match, emerging victorious with a final score of 47-42. Gladney once again proved her mettle with 15 points, while Wagenaar and Uzzell contributed 11 points each. Notably, Wagenaar secured her 500th rebound during this game, highlighting her significant contribution to the team's success.

The team's incredible run propelled them into the Silver Championship game against the formidable Episcopal High School. In a gripping battle that went down to the wire, Lake Belton displayed unwavering determination but fell short in the closing seconds, concluding the game with a narrow 43-45 loss. Gladney continued her stellar performance with 17 points, while Wagenaar added 11 points, marking an impressive end to the tournament despite the heartbreak of the final result.

The Aggieland Tournament proved to be a platform where the Lady Broncos showcased their resilience, skill, and dedication. With standout performances from Gladney, Wagenaar, Uzzell, and Deleon, coupled with milestone achievements, Lake Belton displayed their potential as a force to be reckoned with in the basketball arena.
