The Lake Belton Boys Track and Field team traveled to Round Rock Saturday to compete in the Round Rock Quad Meet. The boys would compete hard from start to finish, ultimately finishing as the runner ups in both JV and Varsity divisions.

The varsity divisions started off strong in the field events for the second straight week as Adam Walden went double gold in the shot put (48'0.5) and discus (147'10"). Xavier Wells would also come clutch, winning the high jump (6-5) and placing 3rd in the triple jump (40'6"). This would be the second straight week with PRs in both events. Julian Walker would also PR and win the long jump with a leap of 22'10". Cameron Hamilton would come away with 2nd place in the triple jump (41'5.5") and Trey Phillips would finish 3rd in the long jump (20'5.5") to round out top scorers in the field events.

Kendrick Jones Jr would make his debut on the track, breaking the school record in the 400 meter dash and taking gold with a time of 48.26. Freshman Keaton Washington would finish 3rd with a new PR of 50.73, the second fastest time in school history. Zy Thomas finished with a gold in the 300 meter hurdles (41.81) and 3rd in the 110s (15.78). Freshman Zion Harness and Senior Caleb Jeffreys would finish 2nd (22.94) and 3rd (23.53) in the 200, and Josh Mallard would finish off top individual scorers finishing 3rd in the 100 (11.23). The 4x100 (Harness, Washington, Davion Peters, Jones Jr), 4x200 (Peters, Ty Legg, Jeffreys, Harness), and 4x400 (Jones Jr, Joey Read, Washington, Wells) finished 2nd in each of the relays.

The JV boys would come away in impressive fashion for the second week in a row, with big performances for some new faces. Freshman Mikey Lockett finished 1st in the high jump with a leap of 6-2, while freshman Allen Muchunu would finish 2nd with a 6-0. Muchunu would also come 1st in the long jump (20'2"). Michael Frazier would finish 1st in the triple jump (40'11") and 3rd in the long jump (18'9.25"). Zack Summy finished off scoring with a 3rd place finish (107'1") in the discus.

Summy would then go onto the track to collect 1st in the 300 meter hurdles, 2nd in the 110s, and helped the 4x400 (Cash Robin, Cavan Pilkington, Zach Dodd) finish 2nd. Freshman Brayden Rohling finished 2nd in both the 400 and 800. 3rd place finishers in the individual races were Cooper Arnold in the 100, Noah Stevens in the 110s, and Aidan Gibbons in the 400. The 4x200 (Dodd, Pilkington, Robin, Tekoa Martin) finished 1st and the 4x100 (Arnold, Dodd, Robin, Martin) finished 2nd.

The Broncos are two meets in, and though this group is a young one, they are showing competitive excellence in each opportunity presented to them. The Broncos will be back on the track next week, as some athletes will partake in the Texas A&M Bluebonnet Relays, while the other athletes will compete in the Big Red Relays.
