The Bronco varsity silver golf team competed in the 5A state preview tournament at Legacy Hills Golf Course in Georgetown March first and second. The boys ended up in the middle of the pack among the teams best 5A teams. The first day of the tournament started out pretty cold, and the boys got off to a slow start. That first day was led by sophomore Jackson Null who turned in a great 75. Jackson was followed by senior James Bond and sophomore Miles Parker who shot identical 84s. Senior Mason Euer shot a 91 and the team was rounded out with junior Nick Brooks’ 92. Those scores added up to give the team a pedestrian 334. The second day of the tournament started with warmer temperatures and the team score went down. Once again the team was led by Jackson who’s second day score of 78 gave him a two day total of 153 and a top 10 finish for the event. Nick and Miles both shot even 80 and a combined improvement of 16 strokes. Mason and James both 84 for a combined seven stroke improvement. The team’s second day total of 322 was a 12 better than the first day and led to an overall score of 656, which was good for 15th place overall. In addition to the team sophomore Jack Brown played in the tournament as an individual medalist. Jack shot a 95 the first day of the tournament, but his second day score of 80 gave him one of the biggest improvements and included an awesome eagle on the par five 18th hole. The boys will tee it up again on March 6th at Margaritaville Golf Course in the Regional Preview tournament.
